Style Melbourne

Hello Melbourne Summer

A Melbourne Summer should be filled with plenty of time spent at the polo, lying on beaches and perched on stools at open air bars. So when it came to celebrating the new social season about to arrive in town; the rooftop deck overlooking St Kilda’s foreshore at Captain Baxter seemed just the place.

The guestlist permitted no celebutantes nor D grade “personalities”; just a gathering of bright, intelligent, kind people who happen to be designers, stylists, writers of fashion and food and event makers. Good people to toast with whiskey and rum cocktails or bubbly prosecco and dream about how they can shape and champion Melbourne for this season and many years ahead. Even the sunshine came out to play before it set and the breeze ushered us inside to be warmed by flickering, green tea and bergamot scented candles.

Songstress Gena Rose Bruce serenaded us with lilting melodies when the DJ wasn’t soothing us with yacht-club appropriate sounds. Please consider this your introductory soundtrack for Summer;

I Need a Boyfriend – Gena Rose Bruce

 Nightswim – Owl Eyes

Zimbabwe – New Navy

Fall Underneath – Snakadaktal

Losing You – Solange

Go Slow – Haim

Captain Baxter -10-18 Jacka Boulevard St Kilda – is now open for extended daylight savings hours over Summer so you can enjoy sunning yourself on their nautical deck while nibbling on their new season menu for even longer.
