L’Oreal Paris Runway 4 at LMFF 2013

Congratulations to Kirrily Johnston on a recent addition to her family! The designer (smartly) skipped LMFF this year to stay home and dote on her newborn bub but her Autumn/Winter collection still made it to Melbourne’s catwalks.

The range titled coincidentally titled ‘Babylonia’ (baby brain perhaps?) is apparently an ode to “the riches and royalty of the ancient Persian Empire”. So the overall vibe is of a wardrobe Daenerys Targaryen would wear should she be transported to the real life and modern day.

This season Kirrily has again collaborated with Australian jeweller Sylvie Markovina to produce suitably old-world regal – almost prehistoric – pieces in gold, crystal and brass. They had me at “tiara”.

Kirrily Johnston’s designs featured in L’Oreal Paris Runway 4 at the 2013 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. The show also featured designer labels Alannah Hill, Aurelio Costarella, Flannel, Hardwick, Jayson Brunsdon and Megan Park. Listen to the show’s music playlist here.
