L’Oreal Paris Runway 1 at LMFF 2013

Kit Willow explains her latest collection “Dream Possession” recently presented on the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival catwalk “endeavours to capture the reality of a dream through a play on transparency and the reinterpretation of lingerie as outerwear.” For the lay reader this means visible nods to corsetry and airy sheaths that, for their aesthetic magic to be truly appreciated, need to be seen undulating as the wearer floats past.

Globally speaking this is actually a Spring/Summer collection for the international label but, as we move into winter at home, I wondered what Kit is looking forward to most? Apparently she’s coming back to town; “I’m going to visit our Melbourne stores and see my grandmother!” The designer is also looking forward to having some space to herself this season (I empathise). However things don’t appear to be quieting down on the label-front just yet. Willow has just launched its first range of footwear comprised of comfortable, lace-up heels in the label’s signature style. Imagine this; chic shoes with actual tread.

On top of this Kit has also been voted the reader’s choice of Best Australian Designer at the Prix de Marie Claire Fashion Awards! Hope you get some down time to enjoy hot baths and rainy days (her favourite things about Winter) soon Kit!

Willow‘s designs featured in L’Oreal Paris Runway 1 at the 2013 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. The show also featured designer labels Josh Goot, Scanlan & Theodore, Carla Zampatti, Akira, Colette Dinnigan and Maticevski. Listen to the show’s music playlist here.
