Paspaley Polo in the City

Ahhh the polo season is almost upon us. Get your espadrilles and sun-dresses ready. It’s like a cross between the Spring Racing Carnival (sans the rabble) and a visit to your local yacht club (of course you have one of those), with a little festival atmosphere mixed in. To me there is only one summer sport – admittedly because the fashion is chic and there’s no shortage of Verve Clicquot – and that is the “sport of kings”. Of the three major polo events in Victoria, the Paspaley Polo in the City is always-a-sell-out.

This year New Zealand polo player Sam Hopkinson, voted by Vanity Fair as among the World’s top 10 hottest horsemen – will wield his mallet in Melbourne. The aforementioned glossy likened him to James Franco and Sam also played Viggo Mortensen’s riding double in Lord of the Rings films.

The Melbourne round of Polo in the City will be played on Saturday 3rd December from around 11am-6pm at Albert Park Lake.

I have two double passes to the Coopers Bar marquee worth over $140 each. The prize includes entry to the polo and the marquee, live music, Fashions on the Field competition, complimentary pamper lounge, mist machines if it’s hot and free bus transport and entry to the official after party at Hotel Nest. All you have to do to enter is;

1. Become a fan of StyleMelbourne on Facebook, by clicking here, if you aren’t already (I check this).

2. Email with the subject line ‘Pearls & Polo’. Don’t forget to include your full name (that one you use on Facebook) and postal address.

3. Wait to see if you’ve won this gorgeous prize. Winners will be drawn on  16th November 2011. You must be over 18 to claim your prize.
