Short & Sweet Style Wrap #41

Regular readers have probably noticed that I’m a fan of the hyper-local luxe-yet-ethical clothing label Bento by Samantha Hardman. I can’t wait to show you their Spring Summer 2011/12 collection, but in the meantime Bento is celebrating their launch at online shopping destination The Grand Social.  They’ve generously offered an exclusive 30% off everything for StyleMelbourne readers. Simply enter ‘BentolovesStyleMelb’ at checkout. Offer is valid from now until 20th July 2011. Might I suggest scooping up the timeless, oh-so-flattering ‘Sophie’ skirt?

Does the idea of bringing your dream jeans to life sound pretty darn spectacular? Ziggy Denim could soon make your dreams a reality; you just have to show them your creative chops within the theme “fact or fiction”. The designs that top a public vote will then be judged and the worthy winner will be whisked to Melbourne to help design their custom-made dream jean. The chosen design will be named after its creator and be added to Ziggy’s next collection. For details get clicking.

The Australian Ballet’s latest offering from their Ballet v. Fashion project is a grey marle tee by Melbourne illustrator Kat Macleod (she who brings Michi Girl to 2-d life). Ballerinas Karen Nanasca and Dimity Azoury pose in the limited edition (of 300) tee.

Bloom cosmetics have been inspired by Boost’s iconic juices to create a range of fruity lip balms that leave me longing for the return of tropical days. The flavours are all natural and it’s nice to see my usual Boost order of Watermelon Crush in there! Until the end of July you can score two of these lip balms for only $10 by visiting Bloom online and downloading a handy dandy voucher.

If you have Champagne tastes on a passion pop budget you may want to visit a pop-up sale this Friday 15th (8am-7pm) to Sunday 17th July (weekend 9am-4pm) at 418 Punt Road in South Yarra. Think big names like Alex Perry, Aurelio Costarella and Sabatini at 40-70% off.

The Tiara Project is a lovely initiative that provides underprivileged girls with dresses and other resources so they can attend their debutantes and formals. Just think of them as real-life fairy grandmothers. Their annual fundraiser is Girls’ Night Out coming up on Friday 9th September. Have a peek at the flyer for all the details and book tickets here.

Another great project is Country Road and the Australian Red Cross’ ‘Fashion Trade’. Simply donate a bag of wearable clothing that includes at least one pre-loved Country Road or Trenery piece at a Red Cross store to receive a $10 voucher to spend on something shiny and new at Country Road (when you spend over $50).

On my to-do list: the Tali Roth and Zoe Elizabeth sample sale on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of July at 136 Greville Street in Prahran. Commence saving your pennies now.

Also saving my pennies for the Akira Studio sale (a rare occurrence). On the weekend of the 30th and 31st July on level one at Melbourne’s GPO you’ll find – if I don’t beat you to it – samples, limited editons, Australian and Paris designs and pieces from the archives. Prices start at $30.

Everyone who signs up to online shopping deals site Cherry Pick Me before August 15th goes into the draw to win $2000 worth of their favourite deals. Click here for more details and happy cherry picking!
