Vintage Princess A/W 2011 showcase

Earlier this week I caught up with Vintage Princess accessories designer Angela Babatsias as she showcased her new Autumn Winter collection of handbags and jewellery for 2011. Among a room strewn with meringues, ornate birdcages and pom poms at The Olsen Hotel I was introduced to a label (though it has been around for ages) that emerged from the humble beginnings of bag parties to now adorning women’s limbs nationwide.

To be honest I’m not really a “bag lady”. I despise pieces emblazoned with gauche logos and all manner of tassles and toggles so the Vintage Princess aesthetic suits me nicely. Many of the handbags are slouchily shaped satchels and totes in beautifully-coloured soft leathers. The hardware makes them special; with heavy metal clasps and straps scattered with beading and coins that jangle satisfyingly as you walk.  I like that these are no fuss bags that complement rather than compete with your outfit.

Angela’s Vintage Princess jewellery also seems super-versatile to me; I immediately took a liking to a few new favourites. A peek at the new collection for you…

So easy to wear this necklace with a white tee or to fancy up a little black dress.

Magnetic cuff = no more struggling with bracelet clasps when you don’t have a gentleman around to assist you.

Can’t go past a little hit of animal print now and then.
