Designer QEE exhibition

Melissa George, Grant Pearce, actress Emma Booth, and designers Lisa Gorman, Peter Alexander and Mimco’s Cathryn Wills joined a dozen oversized designer toys to launch the Qee exhibition as part of LMFF’s cultural program.

Australian designers and labels including the aforementioned along with Alannah Hill, Bettina Liano, Fat, Jack London, Leona Edmiston, Little Joe, Oroton, Sambag and White Suede have been give their own Qee (pronounced “key”) to have their way with; producing what amounts to distinctive sculptural art. Alannah Hill has employed the charms of luscious false lashes for years and now extends the same seductive advantage to her Qee. Gorman’s creation is whimsically nautical, while Leona Edmiston’s design is prettily painted. Peter Alexander may be the most ambitious, outfitting his Qee in its own snuggly dog suit.

The (free) exhibition is on now in Chadstone’s luxury precinct until Sunday April 3rd. Each customised Qee will be auctioned off in aid of the respective designers’ chosen charity cause, ranging from Friends of the Earth to Youth Off the Streets. Bidding starts from Friday March 25th until the exhibition closes. You can also design your own Qee in a workshop and online to win over $3500 worth of prizes. KiwiSex
