Loving…the Fabulous 50’s

An ode to femininity, the 1950s was an era where design and glamour combined to create complimentary styles to flatter and accentuate the female form. From waist-cinching dresses, to flourishing circle skirts and irresistible sweetheart necklines in a delectable range of spots, stripes and floral prints, the look of a lady could be as pretty as Doris Day or as classic as Audrey Hepburn. By adding a string of gleaming pearls, luxurious leather driving gloves or fiery red lips, retro fashion is ever-present in the Dior Haute Couture shows in Paris, to the sweet little vintage shop down Brunswick Street. The 1950’s will never jitterbug out of style.

1. Fabulously feline and fun cats eye sunglasses by Mimco; even Dame Edna would approve!

2. This ‘Cupcake’ dress by Review – pretty as a picture – pays homage to the 1950’s with a sweetheart neckline, lilac hue and full skirt perfectly wrapped up in one big bow.

3. A great a-line skirt by Yeojin Bae. Paired up with a halter neck, this skirt is rockabilly chic with a contemporary twist.

4. Estelle Annabel makes her ‘Black Rose’ full-brimmed hats to order; marvellously reminiscent of vintage Dior.

5. Mimco‘s pearl choker is as timeless as Grace Kelly.
