Introducing Reverie for Winter 2011

As we all know Winter is just around the corner, and many Melbournians are on the look out for fashion that will carry us from day to night, both warm and stylish (with a little chic detailing). This season we have found another ‘must have’ new label – Reverie.

An ocean of French navy, smoke, black and warm rose pink softly puts the finishing touch on the beautifully crafted garments that is the Winter 2011 range from Reverie. Boasting playful silk dresses with natural fibres and relaxed tailoring; this season is bound to set a statement of class and possesses versatile details that will have you from work to play in no time.

So who are the geniuses behind Reverie? Krystina Beche and Emma Low; two friends who work well together and are sure to be around for a long time.

1. What inspires you?
We keep our eye on what’s going on in the industry, what new colours & fabrics are available, what shapes we are liking… We love playing with something complex, simplifying it down and keeping its essence.

2. What are you trying to achieve with Reverie?
We have big dreams… At the moment there’s a lot going on and its always about juggling priorities! We want to create something with high quality fabrications, unique designs and have an effortless sense of style but at a slightly more affordable price tag than what is currently out there. With interest from International distributors, we hope to take the S11 collection to the US and also New Zealand.

3. Tell me a bit about how you started Reverie and how you met:
We met 5 years ago through friends, and discovered a mutual love of fashion & similar taste in clothing. We have both worked in the industry but in separate areas in the years since, and often discussed the idea of doing our own thing in the future. (Krystina is a stylist/tailor, Emma a designer). Last year we finally got our act together and started drawing, mainly meeting up in cafes with stacks of paper… numerous coffees later, our first collection was born!

4. What fabrics do you love to work with?
We love silks! Combining different textures and weights is always fun too. Generally we try to stick to high quality natural fibres, and we source all fabric in Australia.

5. If you could pick one item from your current A/W collection that would be a staple piece of the Reverie look, which one would it be?
Tough one! I’d say the Coco Blazer. It has a bit of quirk, but its relaxed and chic at the same time.
