Australian flowers inspired Millinery Award 2010 winner Liza Stedman on Melbourne Cup Day. The milliner said that the nude and red hat was designed to mirror the beauty of a eucalyptus flower.

Runner-up Lynette Lim’s design featured a red heart made of roses with a black patent leather bow which proved to be very ladylike and popular with the judges, including international milliner to the stars Stephen Jones.

Alternative designer Richard Nylon the second runner up, offered judges and racegoers an edgy look, mixing feathers in fluoro colours for a dramatic effect.
