Caulfield Spring Racing Carnival 2010 Launch

Melbourne Racing Club unveiled Caulfield’s Spring Racing Carnival line-up for 2010 earlier this week with a pop-up recreation of the traditional marquees and lawns. Brodie Harper revealed she would be the Classic Style ambassador for the carnival while Helen Coghill (right) was announced as the Face of Caulfield winner and will be hosting events, blogging and generally being her gorgeous self throughout the festival of racing.

Though I like to have a flutter ($2 each way on the horse with the most intriguing sounding name please) at this time of year, you know it’s going to be the fashion that really captures my attention. The Chadstone Fashion Stakes heats and finals can be found variously on Underwood Stakes Day (18th Sep – so soon), Guineas Day (9th Oct) and Caulfield Cup Day (16th Oct). There will be three categories this year; Youthful Fashionista, Classic Lady and Stylish Gents which are pretty self-explanatory. And we must not miss the Classic Style Award which is an invite only competition for fashion designers to have their take on “classic style”. Aurelio Costarella won last year so can’t wait to see who the entrants are this time around.

David Jones presented their ideal Spring Racing looks in a runway show on launch night which included the likes of labels Lisa Ho, Veronika Maine and Thurley. I adore the purple silk shift outfit.
