Alexi Freeman Spring Summer Launch

followed Alexi Freeman‘s collections for years now, even before StyleMelbourne was born. I know I have said it before, but Alexi’s creations continue to impress me further each season.

On Wednesday evening Alexi’s Spring/Summer line filled the upper level of Comme and fans of the designer turned out en masse to view and purchase his latest works of fashion art.

This season, Alexi has lightened up his colour palette slightly, and injected whimsical shades of melon into a mix of silver, black and metallic fabrics.  Shapes are fluid and simple, designed to skim the body and flatter a wide range of figures, something that Alexi has had down to a fine art for several seasons past.

Pieces include simple shirt dresses, floaty skirts and basic tanks with sheer detailing which adds to the sexiness of the collection.  Cute matching boleros compliment the looks, with bold Spring trenches in a preppy silver plaid perfect to throw over the top of an Alexi frock.

Liquid silver fabrics feature heavily in the current range, with basic longline tanks, leggings and well cut t-shirts give off a sportif vibe, whilst still maintaining that girly edge.  Being Melbourne, a little black is expected, and Alexi has managed to create ultra glamourous black pieces without them being harsh. Sheer detailing and body loving fabrics ensure that a black frock from Alexi’s range will forever be your best friend.

Personal favourites include the bolero in the sorbet melon tone and the amazing plaid dress which Alexi had on display at the MSFW opening party.  The dress will be loved by the curvy girl as it hugs you in all the right places, and skims over your hips for a perfect flattering party frock.  Even more exciting, is that this frock comes with a matching lightweight trenchcoat…it’s love.

2 Thoughts on “Alexi Freeman Spring Summer Launch

  1. Alexi’s new design are as classy as ever.

  2. Is it bad that I purchased three? Oops.

The biker blouse (goes with everything) and the double mesh dress (can wear as a tucked in tee also) in black and the trench dress (dress or coat in one) in delicious silver.
