Style Melbourne

Upon walking into a Gorman store, you are instantly transported into a whimsical world of fairytale luxury.  Be it the worn wooden floorboards, the rustic decor, or the smiling staff floating about the store styled to perfection.  Since the labels inception back in 1999, Melbourne designer Lisa Gorman has been creating collections that season after season are guaranteed to make even the most discerning fashionista feel fabulous and look beautiful.

Gorman’s designs are about simple, clean lines and almost have a childlike naivety about them.  This season, Gorman’s latest collection titled ‘Forest Lines’ comprises a range of delicately embellished dresses, chunky knits, wide leg pants and beautifully tailored tops and skirts.  Gorman has yet again created a collection to suit all women regardless of their shape or size, using the highest quality fabrics to ensure that each piece is one that you will hold on to for seasons to come.

In mid 2007, Lisa Gorman introduced a line of organic products into her stores, and was one of the first Australian designers to catch on to the ‘ethical fashion’ way of doing business.  While the range of organic products initially comprised basics, the success of the line has encouraged Gorman to include adorable prints along with more modern on trend pieces such as structured jackets and quirky dresses.  All of the products in the organic range are made from materials that are certified as being organically produced or are grown as nature intended using only conventional methods of farming.

If you’re heading into our fabulous city next week for the Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, be sure to keep an eye out for Lisa’s very very cool Gorman Ship Shop.  If you’re unfamiliar with the Ship Shop, it is essentially a ‘mini Gorman’ store within a giant shipping container, stocking a great range of Gorman’s organic products.  The Ship Shop tours around Australia, and visits all the major fashion festivals, be sure to pop in and say hi to the friendly staff!

However, if you are after the full Gorman experience, nothing beats visiting one of their many boutiques around Melbourne.  They are located at GPO, Doncaster, Prahan, South Yarra and in Fitzroy, Gorman is also stocked in several boutiques in and around the city and at David Jones or online.
