About Us

sm-logo.jpgWelcome to StyleMelbourne!

We are a Melbourne-based publication focusing on all stylish happenings primarily in our local area. The StyleMelbourne team is interested in fashion, design, beauty and other stylish social events that help to create a hub of culture in our fair city and the state of Victoria.

We aim to assist by supporting emerging talent and celebrating the established among the local fashion industry, labels, designers and retail spaces as well as providing a forum for writers, photographers and other creatives who are passionate about the industry to share their work. Australian (and New Zealand) talent are secondary points of focus as are charitable causes and sustainability within the industry where possible.

For our readers StyleMelbourne will act as a ‘backstage pass’ to share in exclusive events and as an up-to-date source of information for a wide range of styles that are relevant to our unique culture, city and seasons. We strive to be honest (but never harsh) and show outside visitors what our “little” town - the style capital of Australia - can accomplish!

sarzpic.jpgSarah Willcocks, Editor/”Fashion Overlord“- After working as a freelance lifestyle writer for years covering a variety of topics from beauty, bars and health to classic cars, I.T and the arts, I’ve well and truly fallen into/in love with fashion. I still get a buzz from working in our lovely, layered city and this particular industry is so interwoven into the community. Though the fashion scene is easy to get lost in, I try not to take it all too seriously and I hope StyleMelbourne can be a valuable addition to the style media set. The aim is to keep it simple (and stylish). sarah@stylemelbourne.com

bronpic.jpgBronwyn Miller, Assistant Editor - I currently study finance and journalism and have been working with Sarah covering all sorts of fashion events for around 6 months.  My passions include reading, writing, fashion, music and all things Melbourne.  I love going to fashion shows and store openings that feature up and coming Melbourne designers as I get a kick out of supporting the local scene and writing pieces from catwalk couture to the latest, hottest trends in fashion. bronwyn@stylemelbourne.com

melaniepic.jpgMelanie Schuijers, Writer - With years of experience in the modeling industry, Melanie has finally combined her interest in the fashion world with her love of writing. She is in her final semester of completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne where she majored in Anthropology and took various subjects in Literature. She is in the process of editing her first novel and hopes to continue to combine her interests, such as her love of fashion, with her work. melanie.music@gmail.com

amandapic.jpgAmanda Phoon, Writer/Photographer - I worship many icons, especially Scott Schuman! I have a great weakness for shoes, chocolate and eating out. When I am not looking at teeth and books all day in university, I love taking street style photos and poking around little vintage stores. I try to dress eclectic, but unfortunately it sometimes draws loud belly laughs from my friends. I’m currently obsessed with lace gloves and foil capes a la D&G. limecraft@gmail.com amandaphoony.blogspot.com

christinepic.jpgChristine Kelman, Photographer - Christine runs her own photography business called Divine Photography. Her motto for her line of work is ‘your dreams and memories captured forever’. Christine specialises in glamour, fashion, public events, portraits, children, landscape, sports and music photography as well as acting as the photographer at all kinds of parties and private events. divinephotography@live.com.au divine-photography.webs.com 0413 017 800

variapic.jpgVaria Karipoff, Writer - With style inspirations ranging from French New Wave film actresses to Soviet-era crochet book models, Varia likes to take risks with fashion. In her spare time she translates Acmeist poetry, takes photographs with her ’shitty Canon’ and drinks anything that will stain her teeth. She has an arts degree ’somewhere’ and longs to return to places she dreams about; the White Sea, Tbilisi and Palestine. variachka@hotmail.com siberianpepper.blogspot.com

maxpic.jpgMax Garrido, Photographer - Whilst most people wear a necklace around their necks, I wear a camera. I enjoy shooting art, sports, concerts and people getting loose. Raised but not born in Melbourne, it is always good to know that Melbourne keeps on producing great parties, fashion and music therefore there is never a dull moment! During the day I’m a mild mannered marketing guy and have worked for some large to medium sized brands over the past 12 years. At night I like to transform into milianomax. garrido.max@gmail.com
