I must admit I’m still coming down from a Chez Dre induced sugar high. Their sister venue, the dessert parlour that is Bibelot is now open right nearby the famed cafe. Inspired by French bakeries, the Breathe Architecture-guided space is accented in chic black and gold. Marble surfaces, Isa’s Italian gelateria cases and black and white mosaic features by Fabian at Mosaic Republic complete the glossy look. My favourite part (aside from Andrea ‘Dre’ Reiss’ ludicrously good-looking desserts) are the lush button-tufted lounges in a divine shade of emerald green velvet that set Bibelot’s high tea salon apart from the rest of the store. I could really take to having something similar to perch on at StyleMelbourne HQ, but I might just have to settle for a scoop of their cafe au lait and caramelised almond ice cream (or a black olive and white chocolate macaroon, who can decide?)
All of your candy coated dreams will come true at Bibelot, 285-287 Coventry Street, South Melbourne.
