Calling all urban gentlemen.
Festival of Steve becomes a city hub for all things manly for one day only this weekend. Forget butcher, baker, candlestick maker. Steve will host tailors, stylists and boot makers. Have your whiskers and follicles tamed (with a side of whiskey, natch), find the finishing details to that tricky outfit or test out some grooming goods. Merchants of beer, snacks, books, art, homewares, fitness and bikes will all be on hand to answer questions as your explore their wares. Artist BabyGuerrilla will have her way with the exterior of the building while Ryan F Kennedy weaves his sculptural magic inside. Also expect live jazz, gin goodness, pool (the sport kind, not the wet kind), dinners, an auction and an 11 piece live band.
It’s also a day for brain food. The Steve Talks series is a trio of forums where experts will discuss men’s health, how the hipster movement influenced style and dating in the modern world.
I know you’re a good man, think of Steve as providing a little extra je nais se quoi style polish to your life.
The Festival of Steve is on this Saturday 23 May from noon until 8pm amid the hallowed halls of the Kelvin Club, 14-30 Melbourne Place, Melbourne. It’s free to enter (gold coin donations go to beyondblue here) and ladies are welcome.
