“Till Death” is the newest collection of diamond, sapphire and emerald strewn jewellery by artist Julia Deville. Of the antique rose cut diamonds featured in the collection, Julia explains the stones were “extracted from pieces sourced in the markets of Paris and New York”. Skulls are a prominent motif in the range, “some pieces even have tiny skulls hidden on the inside of the rings – a secret for the wearer!” she reveals. I love the almost prehistoric feeling of her cocktail rings in particular, they seem as if they could have been hauled up from plunging marine depths or mined from cavernous walls.
You can find Julia Deville‘s new jewellery pieces on exhibition (and displayed in stunning antique French jewellery boxes that the jeweller has been collecting over the past decade) at e.g.etal, 167 Flinders Lane, Melbourne, from now until November 22.
