Though fairy tales may end with one, all good stories really start with a kiss.

As does the unveiling of The Australian Ballet’s 2015 season, as they reveal their feature performance of the year will be ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ alongside Orchestra Victoria playing Tchaikovsky come September.

Artistic Director David McAllister says 2015 is “a year which really encapsulates what I think we all love about about the ballet and that is the incredible beauty of what we do…beauty is in the ballet in so many different ways”.

In Melbourne the show line-up will also include romantic tragedy Giselle (March), The Dream (Sir Frederick Ashton’s take on Shakespearean comedy A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, June), an encore of Cinderella (later in June) and three modern ballets for 20:21 (August). I’m excited to see The Sleeping Beauty – my first trip to the proper ballet – and you can book your own tickets too here now.

Watch sneak peeks of both The Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella below plus the pretty darn sexy 2015 film below…
