Uncovering Spring at the Glasshouse

I’d like to add a little something to the classic adage; “people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.” Perhaps an addendum; “but they should throw many lovely parties”?

A temporary glasshouse has been constructed in the Melbourne as an ode to the Spring season. Styled on an English conservatory, the quaint structure is filled with lush greenery and blooms from Mr. Moss and Flower Temple. Even more fleeting will be the installation of a butterfly enclosure designed by Botanical Ark’s Alan Carle. A little afternoon tea is presently served daily, as the Glasshouse offers up a rotating menu of tea and cakes. Workshops will flex green thumbs and taste-buds as Petite Green explain how to make and care for DIY terrariums, the Champagne Dame guides guests through a tasting of Perrier Jouet sparkling and chocolate is paired with honey, cocktails and desserts.

Local designer Jason Grech recently unleashed his latest gowns – fresh from the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week catwalk – at the Glasshouse to add a little high fashion to its opening. You can see the collection, backstage and a peek inside the lush pop-up space below.

The Glasshouse and its many charms are open now until October 10th at QV Square. Discover which flora, gourmet, fashion or butterfly-related loveliness is coming up next here.
