Style Melbourne

Kerrie Hess, fashion illustration & cake

“I’m feel like a Melbourne girl at heart”. Yesterday I took my tea with a side of style; as Parisian-based fashion illustrator Kerrie Hess returned home to Australia to launch her collaboration with the Langham Hotel. This will be latest in a series of the hotel’s signature high teas as they have recently worked with Burch & Purchese and will host Tasmanian sweet-maker Alistair Wise for the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

For her high tea in the Aria Bar, which was awash with Chanel-esque pink, Ms. Hess has designed a limited-edition postcard featuring an imagined scene of a woman descending the Langham’s lobby staircase under their shimmering Waterford crystal chandelier. The work will be a gift for each high tea guest. Working on this piece was a thrill for Kerrie, “It’s my favourite hotel in Melbourne…it’s vintage glamour”.

A fan of the work of David Downton, Bil Donovan and her friend Elisa Mazzone (also Melbourne born, Parisian based, check out her work at the wonderful Signed & Numbered), it seems Kerrie has drawn for every luxury label on earth. But there’s still one or two she has a hopeful eye on for future “I’d love to work with Liberty London or Jo Malone, I love their look.”

The Kerrie Hess high tea starts from the 25th February and is strictly limited to 200 guests so click here to get in touch with the Langham to book.
