Country Road A/W 2013

Everything old is new again. It seems the design team at Country Road have been rifling through their (or their mother’s) deepest closets for inspiration. Not so much to recreate pieces, but to discover elements to apply to the modern wardrobe. That old silk scarf is the starting point for a printed dress or shell top. There’s a nod to your teenage-era love for “rebellious” camouflage and even a little touch of grandma’s furs (faux in this case). 80’s polka-dots and snake prints return in a more subtle, contemporary way. And that silver pencil skirt should be stolen straight out of my closet.

Model Iris Van Berne, fresh off the Spring 2013 couture runways, is Country Road’s Autumn/Winter 2013 face as you can see from the campaign and behind the scenes video below with French model Vincent La Crocq is her welcome, male counterpart. Photographer Paul Wetherell’s (10 Magazine, UK Vogue, Wall Street Journal) near documentary profile style works well with the label’s no-fuss sensibility this season don’t you think?

Let me know if you are leaning more towards Country Road‘s utilitarian camp or their punchy prints this Winter in the comments below…
