Did I tell you about the night that I shared a martini – strictly stirred rather than shaken – with my favourite James Bond, Daniel Craig (apologies to Mr. Connery)? Sadly I found him a little two-dimensional. If only he were the real thing. But I’ll settle for gazing at the aesthetically pleasing GQ Australia cover over cocktails.

Happily at a temporary speakeasy hosted by the magazine at Mon Bijou last week, there were many more dapper gents to converse with. Social lubricant came in the form of martinis, Manhattans and a cucumber smash featuring the guest of honour for the evening; Belvedere’s recently released Unfiltered vodka.

Against a backdrop of live jazz, I pondered how a lady would attract a Mr. Bond? Belvedere’s Head of Spirit Creation and Mixology Claire Smith thinks “there’s something very sexy about a woman drinking spirits on the rocks”. I can agree with that.
