Today I find myself among the wonderful company of some be-hatted ladies as part of a new Spring Racing fashion exhibition; My Best Ever Hat! Amelia Coote – buyer at le Louvre, designer Arabella Ramsay, Emma Freedman, Jennifer Hawkins, Lady Melbourne, Harper’s Bazaar editor Kellie Hush, model Samantha Harris, ex-Vogue Melbourne editor and stylist Anthea O’Connor, myself and yet more racing identities have thrown our collective hats into the ring for the show.
The exhibition is curated by Fashion Hall of Fame-r and RMIT program director Karen Webster who loves this time of year “when women are opening that very special section of their wardrobe” to rediscover ”the most important acquisition” of the racing season. Karen firmly believes, “you’ve got spark, everyone’s looking at you when you wear a hat”.
My hat in the exhibition is a black, silver and hot pink lazer-cut perspex number by Alexis Belcher. You’ll just have to visit to see its delicate construction.
The ‘My Best Ever Hat’ exhibition is on now until the 21st October. Find it on Level 1, High Fashion Precinct at Westfield Doncaster. Due to popular demand the exhibit is now on until 11th November.
At the launch: I’m wearing Catherine Leon jacket, Yeojin Bae dress, Mimco Necklace, Betts shoes and Mimco hat.Tags: arabella ramsay, fashions on the field, hats, jannifer hawkins, kelly hush, milliner, millinery, samantha harris, spring racing, what to wear to the races
