Rose Street in Fitzroy is known for its artist markets. But there’s also a – presently sun-dappled – Rose Street in Armadale that may soon transform into a shopping destination (it’s already home to one of my favourite florists, the divine Fleur). Former-homewares store King & Stone has morphed into a “retail carousel” and will host a different pop-up each month. This month finds Melbourne designer lingerie label Love&Lustre inhabiting the space.
Over gingerbread and lattes, we perused French lace and silks as Love&Lustre marks their 10 year anniversary by testing retail waters. The pop-up is laden with negligees, camisoles and nightgowns along with paper art installations crafted from past-season catalogues. Highlights of the current Tuscan-inspired collection include classic-cut silk pyjamas (ie. my daily work wardrobe) in a grey green floral, a supersoft robe in pale violet trimmed with milky lace and unmissable pairs of neon pink knickers. And not to forget the silk chiffon bed jacket that I would totally wear out of the house rather than to where it was intended to go in its charcoal form.
Next up in the pop-up space you’ll find ethical fashion label Lane Palmer Green through November and then lifestyle brand y10 come December.
