Limedrop’s Clea Garrick and Nathan Price are a walking testament to their own label. At Melbourne Spring Fashion Week’s Designer Series 3 last night Clea is adorned in a floral tiara as has become her custom (she was doing it way before Lana Del Rey made it a fad) while Nathan is decked out in a crystal print blazer. The laid-back pair have just finished feverishly instagramming their portion of the show.
Where do the ideas for their uniquely quirky prints come from? “It’s always travel and this time around it’s ancient civilisations” tells Clea of one particular pattern laden with scarabs and sphinxes (‘sphinges’ is the actual plural, but I quite like a term I just made up; ‘sphinxii’). Other Limedrop prints this season include the aforementioned tie-die crystal and Argyle as you’ve never seen it before.
Looking ahead it’s all work and not much play; Clea is likely on a plane to Paris right this second. Then she hits “London and Bejing as part of an LMFF fashion showcase out of the Australian embassy” explains Nathan, who will be holding the fort back home. Finally Clea returns for the Perth Fashion Festival in just a matter of weeks. They will have to squeeze in developing a Spring racing outfit for Flemington’s Designer Award sometime too. Nathan’s motives for Limedrop’s award entry are not purely creative; “I want to win that Lexus”. He’ll look good driving to his new job (as brand manager for a fresh men’s label to be revealed soon) in the vehicle.
I need a holiday just trying to keep up with these two.
