Bassike opens in Melbourne

We should have more events held on weekend mornings if the latest boutique opening is anything to go by. I truly don’t mind the dilemma of choosing whether to celebrate with a Chai latte or a glass of Veuve Clicquot (in a short-lived attempt at being virtuous I went with the former). The occasion was for Sydney’s Bassike label, founded by Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan, as they opened its first Melbourne. The airy space houses Bassike’s men’s and women’s basics and casualwear alongside compelmentary pieces such as Maloles ballet flats, Petitegrand’s delicate jewellery, Maiami knitwear from Berlin, Linda Farrow sunglasses via one of her prior collaborations and leathers by Giorgio Brato. While many of the designs here may be simple the price-tags are not always so humble; perhaps a few glasses of the aforementioned Clicquot will fortify you for a slightly luxurious bout of retail therapy?

Find Bassike at 617 Malvern Road in Hawksburn.
