As a swimwear designer, Roxanne Green hasn’t been fazed with the inability to use her own name for her designs. As she explains Roxy, the label named after her by her Quicksilver-founding father, “has been around since I was six or seven so I’m used to it…I’m not the kind of person to name it after myself anyway”. Instead she turned to the moniker of another beloved family member when launching her very own line of locally-designed, Italian-fabricated Finnigan swimwear. “I had a dog named Fin who passed away…we called him Finnigan”.
More recently her boutique dubbed Fin has officially launched. I stocks Roxy’s own sporty/lingerie-based swimwear collection alongside fashion by avant garde Melbourne label Collecting Pretty Boys, footwear by Maidenlove (yay for vintage-fabric based wedges) and hand-crafted jewellery by Salita Matthews. Art is also a feature with new artists being installed in the boutique space every few months. Currently in residence are the rather ghostly works of illustrator Jessica Stewart.
This balance wasn’t a concious decision as Roxy explains, “it’s just what my friends have done!”
Find Fin at 440 High Street, Prahran.
