The merriment, voyeurism and froth of Cannes has recently come and gone. Though I know little of her on-screen CV, I was particularly stuck by the unique red carpet style of Chinese actress and singer Fan Bingbing. She seems at once quirky, regal and uninhibited with her fashion choices.
The closest I’m likely get to this kind of fashionable film event anytime soon is ‘High Tea at the Movies’. I was kindly invited to a preview screening (more on that later) yesterday, so I thought I’d channel a little Cannes-style courtesy Ms. Bingbing’s beauty look on day one at Cannes. Mostly because I can’t afford her gowns. Fan – as a L’Oreal Paris Ambassador - likely had a professional make-up artist and never-ending product kit at her disposal. Me, not so much. But one perk of being the Official Insider Blogger at this year’s Melbourne Fashion Festival is that I do occasionally find myself with the odd product to experiment with. This year L’oreal have released the L’Or Electric Collection for Cannes, and I love the strong, all-eyes-on-me colours especially. I drew inspiration from Fan’s heavily-lined lids and orange pout (a change from the usual pop of pink or red).
I used; ‘Neonic Orange’ Colour Riche lipstick by L’Oreal, Lumi Magique foundation by L’Oreal, Mega Volume Collagene mascara by L’Oreal, concealer by FOA, Shimmer cube palette by Body Shop, Superliner gel eyeliner by L’Oreal. And Le Vernis L’Or Electric nail polish in ‘Majestic Green’ just because I adore the chartreuse hue! Click here to see what Fan Bingbing’s take on this beauty look.
In Valentino. Perhaps my favourite look of the week.
A nod to her heritage in Christopher Bu.
Demure in Elie Saab Couture.
