Melbourne Spaces: Swoon

Sandwiched between a haute perfumerie and an op-shop, Swoon seems right at home. Elgar & Lyle and Margery Daw designers Brahman Perera and Keegan Hunt have set up a shop devoted to emerging and under-the-radar fashion labels and homeware designers. Having literally raised the roof and revealed the archways within its new space, Swoon is dedicated to ensuring its visitors are “emotionally affected by something that one admires” (as is scrawled on the shop’s wall). For Perera the basis for inclusion on Swoon’s racks is a simple as a “I must have you” feeling. At present I’m swooning over Colony’s fantastic Australian-made sunglasses, Elgar & Lyle’s current obsession with triangular jewellery in perspex and mirror, Urban Cartel’s ceramics plus collections from Neo Dia, Where Lovers Lie and Swoon’s very own brand of tea.

Come over all swoon-y at 109 Auburn Road, Hawthorn.
