LMFF: Runway 2

Following a mini-lazer light show (ooh, look at the pretty lights) Bianca Spender opened Runway 2 at the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival with a pairing of neon yellow and navy. Seemingly everyone’s favourite Yeojin Bae was even more pared back than usual, relying on asymmetry and a fire-engine red for interest. I adored the jet-black sequins of Megan Park, particularly on cardi I would wear slung over the shoulder as styled here like a cape. Jayson Brunsdon also played with black sequins but on the whole steered towards non-meringue bridal looks. Guess what? Thurley presented yet more black sequins – shall I call bingo? – her entire collection was high on shine. Would wear the beaded tunic dress in a second. Gwendolynne does what she does best; presenting classic gowns elevated with sumptuous hand-beading, this time focussing on the bodice. Carla Zampatti rounded out the show with dual motifs of sheer polkadots and houndstooth.

Anyone attend runway 2 this year? Highlights?
