It’s Barbara Millicent Roberts’ birthday this week. Better known to the world as the singular ‘Barbie‘ she is the most prolific person to ever have been moulded into existence. Barbie celebrates 53 years in the spotlight in 2012, though the lady does not reveal her true age. In honour of this olympic athlete, UNICEF ambassador and often-times Presidential candidate, the number 16 tram in Melbourne has been completely decked out in celebratory pink glitter for the next couple of weeks.
I was invited to board the tram in an outfit taking inspiration from Barbie’s style. When else do you get the chance to ride a hot pink tram through Melbourne? She was a fashion editor in 1960 so I dressed as the most obvious modern incarnation; Fashion Blogger Barbie (get on that one Mattel). I was sorely tempted to dress as astronaut Barbie though…
