Style Melbourne

Do you want to be a fashion publicist, journalist, stylist or blogger?

Want a fashion career? If a needle and thread aren’t quite your thing and you desire more of a media role such as publicist, journalist, stylist or blogger, here’s your chance to learn for the experts who have ‘been there, done that’. On this Wednesday March 21st -TONIGHT! – from 6.00pm to 9.30pm at The Whitehouse Institute of Design, Level 4, 672 Bourke Street, Melbourne a Prospect 360 seminar will provide you with a head-start opportunity.

Fashion stylist Anthea O’Connor (also Fashion Commentator on The Circle and former Melbourne Editor of Vogue no less) will MC a panel of four experts.

For budding publicists, Myer Australia’s National Public Relations Manager Melissa Templeton will share her experience of fashion weeks, major sponsorship programs and keeping Myer as a household name.

Janice Breen Burns is The Age’s fashion editor. Revered in the local industry, she has over 20 years print experience to share.

Emerging stylists should look to Cheryl Weir, Channel Nine’s senior stylist, who currently styles celebrities for red carpet appearances, race wear and fashion spreads for newspapers and magazines. Cheryl started her career at the prestigious Central St. Martin’s college in London and has also designed her own label.

Then for the aspiring bloggers there’s me! After starting this blog several years ago; I’ve since found a world of opportunities open up; specifically the chance to participate in fashion editorials, video hosting, acting as a panel expert and fashion judge, even travel. Most recently I was part of the first ever official blogger contingent for L’Oreal during LMFF.

The seminar involves networking, a Q&A session, dos and don’ts on how to go about securing employment, internships and work experience in the coming year, tips and advice. It is suited to students and those wanting to make the move into fashion career. Tickets are just $55 (they’re usually way more than that) and include light refreshments. Click here to book now.

What about those not in Melbourne? Will it be streamed or posted to the web?

  2. Hi Susan,

I don’t think so. You could probably get in touch with Prospect 360 after the event though to enquire about purchasing a resource pack about the night.

  3. Hi, is this a seminar that is held annually, or is this a one off?

  4. It’s a one-off Alice.

They may get around to doing a similar theme again but they like to mix it up a bit too.

  5. It was a fantastic night. Your advise was really helpful. I’ll be telling everyone far and wide about your blog. I wish only bigger and better to come for Style Melbourne. Anastasia 🙂

  6. Thanks Anastasia – that’s really kind of you. Best of luck with your own blog and fashion career.
