There’s a new Spanish fashion label in town. No, it’s not another Zara – yet. The lesser known (though the label is determined to change that status in Australia) Adolfo Dominguez has finally launched on our shores.
Designer Dominguez initially set up shop in Ourense back in the 70s and now has over 600 boutiques globally. Officially cutting the ribbon on its first local boutique last night, AD offers what is essentially an affordable luxury line of mens and womenswear, jewellery and accessories. The tooled leather satchel bags and shoes in particular are set to adorn my wardrobe wishlist. When it comes to AD’s apparel I lean toward their edgier offerings; those with a hit of fluorescent colour or an organic sculpted shape.
The store design itself feels grounded due the widespread use of dark, earthy woods and the addition of a log centrepiece. Sourced from the King Lake region after Black Saturday and now home to (quite lovely) new fungi growth and studded with carnations, the piece nods towards the store’s new beginning.
Shop Adolfo Dominguez at Ground Floor, Chadstone Shopping Centre, 1342 Dandenong Road, Chadstone.
