Kuwaii opens their first store

Kuwaii designer Kristy Barber opened the label’s first boutique in the facade of her Brunswick studio this weekend. Currently housing her Summer ‘Cosmic Poetry’ collection of shoes and apparel, the store also stocks an edited selection of vintage jewellery hand-picked by the designer on her various travels.

The store features elements possessed by a slightly dishevelled garden shed. Piping complete with taps acts as display racks, birdcages hang from the ceiling outside, pottery lanterns inside. Cotton spools become wall hangers, while industrial containers become pots for mint and succulents.

Just add floral arrangements by Cecilia Fox and strawberry punch; and you have an opening party fit for summer no matter the weather. Why open now? “To stop customers banging on the windows wanting to come in anyway…”

Knock on Kuwaii’s door at 37-39 Glenlyon Road, Brunswick.

  1. Kristy Barber has a unique style that is fun and breezy. With luck I’ll make it to Brunswick in the next year.
