Style Melbourne

Short & Sweet Style Wrap #39

Designer Lane is a new online shopping destination stocking a fusion of international and local labels that possess a ‘young Hollywood’ feel. Designer Lane is generously offering my readers an exclusive 20% discount off everything (except sale items). Simply enter code ‘stylemelbourne’ at checkout until 29th June 2011.

Emerging fashion and jewellery designers MUST read this: jack + bill is a pop-up PR agency launching today from the brains behind Porter Novelli. They are holding a revolutionary open casting call on Saturday 30th July from 10am to 5pm at 1000£Bend, 361 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne (enter via Heape Court) so up to three new labels can win a share of $30,000 of PR representation over three months. Get your portfolios ready!

Find the Limedrop, Dhini, Romance was Born, Gary Bigeni, Gail Sorronda & Friedrich Gray sample sale this Friday 3rd 10am-6pm and Saturday 4th June 10am-5pm only at 395 Gore Street, Fitzroy.

Sadly jewellery destination Glitzern is closing up shop. Not so sadly they will be holding a final sale at 1a Crossley Street, Melbourne until 25th June. Then Glitzern will reincarnate in pop-up and online form alter in the year.

For the vintage lovers; Thread Den now has an online store. I spy a lovely pair of grey heels that are sure to be snapped up soon.

Another new market has hit my radar; the South Yarra market (from the Oak off Chapel team) opens this Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June from 11am-5pm and then every weekend. They’ll be spruiking fashion, art, vinyl and vintage. I have been promised pancakes and mulled wine along with retail treasures.

Style and eco-conscious Melbournians should visit Fashion Future Now. This free event is on Friday 3rd June from 4pm-7.30pm at St Kilda Town Hall and will feature fashion parades, a clothes swap, MAC makeovers, market, prizes and workshops in sustainable style.

Gorgeous cosmetics are hosting Style Me Gorgeous parties where you can have colour consultation and makeovers with champagne in hand. On Friday 10th June the party comes to Melbourne Central, Friday 17th June sees the event hit Doncaster and on Saturday 18th South Yarra will be gorgeously  styled. Bookings are essential (call each location direct) and are $30 fully redeemable on product (plus you’ll enter the draw to win their $1000 Ultimate Styling package. Vogue Australia’s beauty editor Sigourney Cantelo may even drop by to offer advice.

I’ll never give up my espresso martini addiction; sometimes I feel like starting a whole new series on where to find the best in Melbourne. Sensory Lab and Kit cosmetics aren’t helping with the cravings. They’ve teamed up to produce coffee-infused candles, body wash and scrub. Too delicious! This Saturday they will open a pop-up shop at 12-18 Yarra Place in South Melbourne (opposite St Ali) where you can find your new addiction. If you purchase all three items you’ll receive a Keep Cup as a bonus gift.

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve been chosen as an ambassador for Cherry Pick Me; a new daily deals site that offers exclusive discounts at gorgeous online stores for a limited time only. It launches today and a sneak peek at the first week sees bargains on homewares, jewellery, shoes, lingerie, skincare and designer objects. Sign up to become a member and let them know StyleMelbourne sent you. Happy shopping!
