Go to jail. Got to directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Just make sure you have your couture pressed and ready…
Coburg’s historic Pentridge Prison has re-emerged after over a decade of closure to transform (somewhat controversially) into a lifestyle precinct. Spending well over a century as home to Victoria’s most hardened criminals, its new inmates should be more willing. Many of the cells have been transformed into boutique wine cellars while ten of the most important have been retained according to National Heritage guidelines as public mini-museums. The rose garden is a sight to behold in the evening when scattered with twinkling fairy lights. The intriguing space can also play host to events; the first – an unofficial opening celebration – was Time Served Fashion Release. The fashion show featured a myriad of labels such as Robb & Lulu, Vezzano Couture, Mathieu Salem and Kerrie Stanley’s millinery.
Let’s hope the only crimes committed here in future are those of the fashion variety (or not if we can help it).

Some of Pentridge is still a building site and wasteland and in other parts residents have been living there for years. The spaces for shops and businesses are still vacant except for one restaurant. Although the heritage space has been used for fashion shows and old cells transformed in to boutique wine cellars according to Style Melbourne. [...]
