Tristania Drive Winter 2011

It’s nice to escape amid the pages of the latest glossy magazine to arrive in my mailbox. The fashion sections are always filled with drama courtesy layers of silk and tulle, pieces that could double as weapons and/or fabulous (in the true sense of the word) silhouettes. But in reality it’s hard to find labels that are consistently easy; in that they are simple to wear without ever verging on being boring. Those that seamlessly seem to merge into high rotation wear in your wardrobe. It’s that fine balance that new label Tristania Drive maintains. Designer Jacqueline Hunt comes to the Melbourne fashion scene by way of Noosa – perhaps that’s why her pieces are relaxed – and I’m digging so much about her first Winter collection. Here’s why;

I have a bit of a thing for leather this season. Not when it progresses to full-on biker mode but rather when it shows up in unexpected ways. Here leather details feature spliced in at the waist, on lapels and at the hem of pockets for a subtle edge.

Prints are crucial to defining Tristania Drive’s look. They are often bold but not in a way that induces a headache. This ‘Evolution’ print is just so darn cool.

3 pieces to buy asap (or rather *do not* as I want them…)

This ‘Native Drop Pocket’ dress = so much love.

This ‘Progress long Length’ skirt at the new season length.

This divine ‘Surrender Soft’ jacket which to my mind is casual elegance objectified.

And yet more wearable loveliness…
