Speaking of LMFF, The Spirit of the Black Dress is now taking donations to support their mission to showcase emerging Australian design and sustainable fashion at the 2011 festival. If you love either or both of these great things simply click the donate button on their web page.
A host of Australian designers and labels including locals like Alannah Hill, Bettina Liano, Peter Alexander, Fat, Gorman, Mimco and Jack London will be a part of the Qee Designer Toy exhibition at Chadstone from March 16 to April 3. Part of LMFF 2011, each designer will present their own take on the Qee (an oversized toy from Hong Kong) and each will be auctioned off for the designer’s choice of charity.
Nicole Jenkins – owner of Circa vintage boutique and author of ‘Love Vintage’ – will be hosting a session on vintage fashion at Malvern library from 11am on March 17. The ‘Mad About Vintage‘ talk will look at clothes from the 20’s to the 60’s, I know March is an uber-busy month for Melbourne fashion so pop it in your diaries now.
Fleur Wood has piled high the marshmallows in an antique bell jar at her boutique there. Guess the correct number of sweets in the jar and you could win a $1000 winter wardrobe from her ‘Mrs. Porter’s School for Girls’ collection. Lush!
Chadstone has also released their first application for Facebook in time for Valentine’s Day. It’s a fun little wishlist where you can chose gifts that you would love to be bestowed with and then – hint, hint – send the suggestions to your beloved. By sharing your wishlist you automatically go in the draw to win movie passes or $500 to spend at Chadstone. I’ll have shoes and diamonds, or shoes with diamonds please.
Production of Project Runway Australia season 3 is underway in Melbourne (can’t wait ’til it hits our screens). Their official fabric supplier Rathdowne Fabric & Remnants has let us know they have fabrics by Easton Pearson, Feathers, Nique, Arabella Ramsay, Jayson Brunsdon, Therese Rawsthorne and Zayt in store now. So head down to 154-158 Victoria Street in Brunswick if you are a maker rather than a watcher.
I really need new shoes (too much traipsing around Melbourne’s footpaths is not good on the heels). The latest behind the scenes video from Novo‘s A/W 2011 campaign shoot is not helping my shoe-lust either. Mmmm ankle boots…
