It’s apt that the first soiree StyleMelbourne covers for 2011 is the debut of a brand new events management company in town. Chique welcomed us to Southbank this weekend to show off what they can do with the help of (almost) Lady Gaga, Kitty Glitter and an all-singing, all-dancing ensemble.
Naturally, apart from toasting Chique’s arrival, we were there for the fashion (both in the crowd and on-stage). Surrounded by sequins and sparkles and bathed in blue light – to match our blue iceberg-like cocktails – I witnesses a trio of emerging local designer labels glide down the catwalk. Heralded by the strains of Madonna’s “Vogue” labels Stesha Ho, Neo Dia and Pamela Usanto were accompanied by Victorian-era courtesans and dandies.
It was the debut showcase for Stesha Ho‘s dreamy lace and tulle couture creations as she opened the show.
Neo Dia was up next with their debut collection, the sliced-up and pleated, Lucid Construct. Designers Becky Chua and Gavin Lowes are off to show at Amsterdam Fashion Week about now. Très excitement.
And finally one of my new favourites Pamela Usanto displayed her exceptionally constructed, feminine designs from her Lumiere and Madame Rose collections. Lush!
I’m sure I’ll spy the Chique touch on many a cocktail soiree, fashion show and theme party throughout Melbourne in the days ahead. For just a taste check of their expertise check out our full photo gallery below…
