Melbourne Cup Day Fashions on the Field 2010

Melbourne lived up to its reputation in more ways than one on Cup day. Not only were patrons treated to 4 seasons (twice over) in one day, Fashions on the Field showcased some of the best Australian designer talents and self styling fashionistas. The Cup day Fashion on the field featured over 500 contestants, displaying almost as many different takes on race wear, from the completely
unbelievable sparkly figure strangling dresses to the more svelte and demure classic styling’s, the heats showcased authentic adaptations on styling.

The winner, Alex Foxcroft glided her way to victory on Dolce and Gabbana tan heels matched with a beautiful ‘Valentino red’ dress with ruffle detail, created by Melbourne designer Variations on a theme. Her headpiece was equally stunning in red and was created by The Essential Hat.

First runner up Deborah Hunter presented a classic black tweed Chanel shift dress whilst second runner up Nadja Sehovic injected more colour to the winning circle with vibrant purple Ted Baker and fascinator by Richard Nylon Hat.

Bring on the grand final on Oaks Day, our fingers are collectively crossed that the rain will stay away for what seems like the first time on a race day this year…
