L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2011

This morning amid the lofty 46th level heights of the Sir Redmond Barry Room the 2011 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival was launched. Officially held from the 14th to 20th March next year, the 2011 festival marks the 15th anniversary of the event and the first under the command of GQ’s Grant Pearce.

Some early highlights for the 2011 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival;

-Actress Melissa George has been announced as the ambassador for the 2011 festival. Can’t wait to see which Australian designers she wears and how.

– The Decades of Fashion retrospective including a public launch fusing music and fashion from the 1960’s when Australia started making strides in the fashion scene to the present.

– The Government house launch will happen in February, six week before the official LMFF week which allows for an extended festival.

– The official runways will naturally return with magazine partners heavily involved in the shows and focussing each around trends for the first time.

– In addition to the usual VIP Designer Award a public showcase will be held for the nominees.

– Indigenous art and jewellery will be a component of the cultural program.

-The National Graduate Showcase will provide support and mentorship for our young designers and culminate in a runway show and showroom.

– Acne Studios’ Mikail Schiller will be one of the international guests during the business program.

-The globe-trotting Acne Paper launch party will be coming to Melbourne for the festival.

-Judging by the guests in attendance you can be assured of appearances by Limedrop, Alpha 60, Arthur Galan AG and Yeojin Bae.

Gorgeous models (including one of my favourites, Kate Peck) wearing Yeojin Bae & Arthur Galan AG.
