The Design awards are among the most prestigious in the fashion stakes of the race carnival, with selected participants being invited to submit entries. The competition was a nail biter, with every piece a unique and beautiful design in its own right.
The winning piece was created by Anthony Capon, an already familiar name from his stint on Project Runway, with an absolutely mind blowing outfit comprising of soft wide ruched white skirt and black tailored jacket with gold rosette detail along the collar and intricately placed along seams. The head piece was a gold mechanical inspired addition, which completed the outfit perfectly and was inspired by the cogs and mechanics of a clock in Anthony’s house, which coincidently had stopped at 3 o’clock, the exact time that the Melbourne cup is run.
First runner up went to Mathieu Salem and his strong 50’s inspired white and red skirt and shirt ensemble, with Second runner up being awarded to David Medwin and his classic deep red skirt and jacket combination.
