Kyoko designs scarves

You

know those Alpha60 pleat scarves that every Melburnian seems to sport to keep warm while looking chic? I think I many have found a new contender for the title of ‘scarf of choice’ next season.

Kyoko Osato designs and hand weaves her unique scarves under her Kyoko label on a loom in her home studio in Melbourne. Each piece is unisex and she hopes they will prove to be future heirlooms. The lambs wool pieces embody her ideals of pure practicality and simplicity in her preferred palette of charcoal, white, a nude pink and soft grey. The scarf designs emulate objects like lattice, string, knotted bamboo, netting and seaweed.

Kyoko’s designs have recently featured in Design: Made:Trade at the State of Design festival and have also popped up at Penthouse Mouse.

Kyoko will have a showcase of her collection at Debut along with 11 other Australian labels at Fashion Exposed this August 2010. You can register to visit for free here.
