It’s SPA-rty time!

Oh to be a lady of leisure! If only we all had the time/funds to do everything we are meant to do to keep ourselves looking presentable each day. Cleanse, tone, exfoliate, moisturise, nails, hair (both ‘do and removal), treatments, makeup, perfume etc…where’s my (oh-so-politically-incorrect) billionaire husband hiding?

Seriously it is impossible to keep up, so when I do get a chance to have a few treatments and not feel like such a  hideous creature from the black lagoon it’s quite a luxury. Sometime I think it’s more about the time out rather than if the treatments/procedures/beauty therapies actually work. I had my “time out” this week as April from Beaute spa invited VIP’s to test out a few new services in the luxurious Westfield Styling Suite.

First up: a Guinot facial after a skin analysis (my skin is terrible thanks for asking). These ladies take their facials seriously. Turning up their noses at the run of the mill treatments, their Hydradermie procedure includes electrotherapy(!) massage, gauze masks and oxygenation of the skin. Sounds intimidating but is actually very relaxing. My skin was clean and soft and I came out unscathed and prepped for more.

Then a quick chat with Marcia, a stylist from Satch about trends for the upcoming summer season. It’s all about versatility, the trans-seasonal and getting the most out of your wardrobe. She says the star is the cocktail dress which is quite simple with just a little hint of glamour so you can wear it to work, drinks or a wedding. Light layers (but not “boho”-throw-everything-on-at-once style) means you can wear items through winter and summer. Black is ok for summer too. Soft greys, gold, peaches and blues will be the colour palette for the next season and you can go wild with trend shoes and accessories in any colours as your clothing is quite simple.

Then onto a “New York” manicure. I’m one of those girls who never gets a manicure thinking I can do that myself! CND has just released Shellac which is a hybrid nail colour between a polish and a gel. It’s a professional treatment and goes on like a polish but lasts until you get them soaked off a couple of weeks later as your nails grow. Seriously no cracks or chips and it doesn’t damage your nails at all. Plus as soon as the treatment is over you are ready to use your hands with no smudging. I have hot pink nails that are still immaculate right now. Love!
