The lilting strains of a trio of strings heralded Pamela Usanto‘s debut as a designer last night. Her first collection entitled Lumière (“light” in French) was presented in a palette of nude, ivory, white and blush tones with the only pattern courtesy a restrained paisley, bow print and adorable polka dots. It’s rare that I like every single piece in a collection, but Usanto has me enraptured with this one as she displays an eye for simplicity and thoughtful design.
I’m particularly fond of Usanto’s Kimmy pleated skirt, the paisley print Ellery suit jacket, the gorgeously draped Grace top, and the Milly bow print blouse. You’ll also see from the show coverage below a preview of the next Pamela Usanto collection Madame Noir 2011 – taking a darker turn. If you are wondering about the exquisite headpieces from yesterday evening, the demure outfits were complemented by custom-made JloveS designs by Jurine Audrina.
Lumière 2011 has been designed for the ingénue in all of us. And the new label like the lady is a class act.
