Harvest Powell‘s latest collection showcases a dual-personality. It has the kind of glam-versus-subtle aesthetic that makes me think of a rockstar off duty. Sequins are muted when mixed with skin-skimming denim. Soft cream is enlivened when contrasted with metallic ‘Vegas’ leggings.
Details that provide distinction include rope ties belts, high, almost paper-bagged waists and the glimmer of cool silver and tarnished gold. Skin is another feature to show off with the plunging necklines of the ‘Spangle X ‘ or ‘Flo-Lo’ tops and the off the shoulder simplicity of Powell’s Grecian ‘Nina’ dress.
The woman who wears Harvest Powell Spring Summer 2010/11 is effortlessly casual yet hints at being a little discerning. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
You can find Harvest Powell at DNA Boutique, 377 Chapel Street, South Yarra.
P.S. In future keep an eye out for new label Hope and Harvest and an event Harvest is involved in impressively titled Real Women Revolution which aims to make plus size clothing accessible and stylish.Tags: harvest powell, melbourne designer, spring summer 2011
