Anon Women Autumn Winter 2010

There

is nothing like that first sensation of fog, drizzle of rain or drop of Winter dew to remind us of the beauty and elegance that can come from simple draping and layering.

Designer Ben Smith’s passion for sculpture, “the ripple and breath of silk…the luxury of cashmere; the touch of somebody you love” and the general appreciation of life’s beauties are exemplified in Anon Women’s AW10 collection, evoking a combination of warmth and sophistication.

Warm burnt umbers and rich neutrals are pared back against a primary pallet of charcoals, greys and black, creating a sense of refined yet practical femininity. Neutral hues dominated the catwalks of Paris and Milan for AW10 and are the perfect supplement to the predominantly black wardrobes that prevail during Melbourne winters.

An array of differing fabrics make Smith’s AW10 collection highly wearable and versatile. Think delicate, brushed silk shirts mixed back with warm woollen coats to brave the fierce Winter weather.

The collection is centred around relaxed tailoring, and simple draping. Calf length dresses, wide leg pants, knee length coats and relaxed silk tees cater perfectly to the unpredictability of Melbourne weather. The softness of form works to both flatter and accentuate. Leave long dresses draped for simple sophistication or cinch coats with a belt for a more structured wear.

Sometimes it is nice to be reminded of the importance of owning good quality, flattering and equally stylish pieces that can be mixed back with trend driven items and assist in an effortless wardrobe transition season to season.  Anon Women’s AW10 collection certainly fulfils this notion; sensuous, timeless staples that would easily accompany an existing Winter wardrobe.
