Anna Thomas Winter 2010

Thomas’ passion for fabrics comes alive in her Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. Anna focuses on exquisite tailoring, structured silhouettes and timeless designs. Her collection challenges femininity by implementing ‘boyfriend’ trends that still create a sophisticated style. Attention to detail and the designer’s experience with European fabrics and production, ensures a collection that offers exclusivity and luxury.

Among an array of blazers, trenches and jackets you’ll find a tailored blazer in black or bold orange featuring a sharp collar and waist belt. Tweed and checkered patterns make an appearance along with army green, navy and a striking white. The colours in the collection clearly represent the label’s trademark style. Whether you like your jackets cropped, to the knee or streamlined, Anna Thomas has it.

A stand out is a soft sheer dress, lined and with beautiful navy, dark green, neutral blues and yellow circular patterns. The flattering piece softly bubbles from waist to knee, features a belt with buckle made from the fabric, scoop neck and subtly voluminous 3/4 sleeves. A very transeasonal dress, this feminine and soft-coloured piece could be complimented with thick tights bringing warmth to the cooler seasons.

I was also happy to see regal red and purples throughout her collection. A bold red trench with detailed black piping is beautifully crafted along with a strong red dress featuring bold geometrical patterns. Purple crept into a beautifully tailored classic trench among other pieces. Another honourable mention is a long-sleeved dress, with waist belt, on a soft white fabric featuring diagonal black and lime lines.

Anna has not left out the basics as simple tops in luxe fabrics fare well tucked into luxurious a-line skirts in true Melbourne Winter colours of black and grey. Implementing a little masculininty, cardigans layer over tailored shirts and tuck into structured trousers. Back to femiminity; a champagne, asymmetrical, silk top drapes in a relaxed fashion with bow detailing. A divine purple dress is perfect for evening where it gathers softly above the knee and features embellished large flower designs along the fabric.

Anna Thomas’ extensive collection features an impressive array of styles consistent with her classic values and her dedication to quality. No Winter gloom to be found in this delightful collection.
