This
morning we were treated to a preview of some of the official runway hair and make-up looks for the 2010 Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Hair stylists Caterina DiBiase and Brad Ngata twisted one models’ hair into a sculptural “roped” bun. Sitting high on the head the slicked back style seemed to me to be otherworldly; the type of look Amazonian Martians would sport should they turn out to be a particularly style-conscious race of people. Plus the tight style had the bonus of giving the wearer an instant facelift.
My favourite style was a lady-like bouffant hairdo with side swept part. It’s not all prim and proper as the slightly wind-swept look is paired with a nude lip and severely winged eye. Loreal make-up artist extraordinaire Rae Morris describes the look as “Audrey Hepburn to the extreme” and recommends using regular sticky tape to create the perfect line at the eye. To recreate the look at home Morris also suggests finding a lip colour in between your natural skin tone and your natural lip shade.
Thirdly we see a hint of a vampy noir trend coming through. Darkly luscious wine stained lips are the star here, balanced out with pale skin and untouched eyes. Take a peek at our preview below and we’ll have more LMFF news for you very soon.
