Kit Willow will open her latest boutique on the ground floor of Melbourne’s GPO this Thursday 17th December. The store will feature rotating art exhibitions (the first being by illustrator Tania Mason and Clemens Krauss) as well as typically gorgeous Willow pieces from her latest Eternal Phi.
Rising stars in the local textiles, clothing and footwear businesses may be interested to know that they can now apply for a share of up to $50,000 out of $2.5 million through the TCF Small Business Program.
The Lulamae popup shop is now open. Designed by Breathe entirely from sustainable cardboard the space has a magical, dolls’ house like quality. Lulamae can be discovered at Melbourne Central until the end of January 2010. Puts those forts we used to make from big discarded boxes as children to shame.
The lovely Lady Petrova is having a Christmas Party complete with bubbles, gingerbread and mince pies. In my humble opinion it is THE place to find a fun party dress. It’s on from 4pm til 8pm this Thursday 17th December at her boutique down Scott Alley off Flinders Lane.
Among the many things we Melburnians claim to be the Australian capital of, coffee and fashion are probably the least disputed. So it is fitting that this year the Sanpellegrino Photography Cafe Society comp brief was to capture “fashion in a cafe society”. Here’s a copy of the winning entry by Stefan Stordal with his subtle and elegant portrait of Federal Coffee Palace.
My favourite ladies and lad at <insert name here> in Georges on Collins are allowing Melbourne to relax from the Chrissy shopping with their “Pearls and Pampering” event this Thursday evening from 5pm to 7pm. Have a mini-manicure or massage from the wonderful Makeovers, Manicures and Martinis while shopping for a strand of funky Joolz pearls for your mum, an Eva Q singlet for your best friend and a vintage Tee from T-Shirt garage for your little brother.
I love Gorman and now that they are giving away free choccies with every purchase in December I love them even more. Plus, each chocolate bar (organic of course, from Green & Black’s) might hold one of five “golden tickets” that entitle the winners to a new $1500 Gorman wardrobe. Heavenly! Take a peek in-store at the festive Xmas decorations Lisa Gorman has designed from discarded Green & Black’s wrappers.
Ever Layne has just opened their online store here. I want to grab one of their “Forget Me Not” camisoles for some summer colour.
If you love the work of artist Luke Feldman and his quirkily sensuous Skaffs universe you sould see his latest show, live painting (you might even score one) this Friday 18th December from 6pm to 9pm. It’s on at the new Villain store at 26 Jane Bell Lane in QV.
